Don’t. 

I’ve been reading articles on how best to retain employees since I started being an employer in 2009. 

And here is one thing I’ve learnt. 

By paying them more money, you are insulting them. 

You are telling them their dreams matter less than the money and the shackles you’re offering them. 

You want security and you’re making them want it to. 

If you really want to honour them, find out where they want to go, what they want to be and and simply HELP them get there.

As for security. If they don’t leave, they will be the biggest risk to your company in the years to follow. 

Let them go. Help them go if you can.

They will love you for it. 

And hire that new, eager beaver (just have them be trained up by the former!). 

Allow change and seek the new. 

It’ll be the best thing you do.
